NICU Nurse Director Overview

  • Lead operations and patient care delivery as NICU Nurse Director in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Oversee a Level IV NICU, providing care for critically ill neonates with advanced medical needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance person-centered care and clinical practice standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, promoting evidence-based practices and quality patient care.
  • Manage a team of 60 FTEs, ensuring operational efficiency and staff performance excellence.
  • Support strategic objectives of the healthcare organization through leadership and coordination.
  • Provide leadership in budgetary performance and systematic improvement in collaboration with senior nursing leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, licensing, and accreditation standards in clinical care delivery.
  • Work closely with Level II NICU to ensure seamless patient care transitions and operational alignment.

NICU Nurse Director Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or advanced healthcare degree preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado or active multistate RN license.
  • Minimum of five years of acute care/specialty nursing experience; seven years preferred.
  • At least three years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, and leadership skills in a clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, fostering positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to articulate and apply nursing theory and practice effectively.
  • BLS certification required; additional certifications in neonatal care preferred.
