Mental Health Clinician Overview

  • The Mental Health Clinician provides comprehensive mental health services to patients of all ages in a hybrid work setting.
  • Engage in diagnostic assessments, counseling, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention to address diverse patient needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and address psychosocial factors.
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills to deliver individualized care plans and therapeutic interventions.
  • Contribute to quality assurance programs and compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Provide education to staff on psychosocial issues impacting patient care and outcomes.
  • Supervise social work interns and participate in professional development activities.

Mental Health Clinician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct individual, family, and group counseling sessions tailored to patient needs.
  • Perform diagnostic assessments and develop comprehensive treatment plans with measurable goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and coordinate with child welfare services when necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare personnel to integrate psychosocial factors into patient care.
  • Prepare detailed reports, mental status exams, and patient histories to inform treatment strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including Article 28 and JCAHO requirements.

Mental Health Clinician Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure in New York State as LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with experience in diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to supervise interns and attend required supervisory training courses.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for healthcare settings.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, behavior modification, and brief treatment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in documenting patient services and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred with additional compensation incentives.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the role.
