Payroll Temp Overview
- The Payroll Temp will support payroll operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency in processing biweekly payroll and related activities.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Payroll Manager to research, analyze, and report payroll data for decision-making purposes.
- Utilize advanced digital tools to create reporting structures for payroll analysis and compliance monitoring.
- Contribute to process improvements, including tuition remission, direct deposits, tax forms, and garnishments.
- Assist in audits, data reconciliation, and preparation of financial reports for compliance and operational efficiency.
- Provide mentorship to student workers, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Work on-site to ensure seamless payroll operations and effective collaboration with university departments.
- This is a contract position with a competitive hourly rate and immediate start date.
Payroll Temp Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and streamline payroll processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance with regulations.
- Back up the biweekly payroll processing and create reports for anomaly detection.
- Analyze tax data using BI tools to optimize processes for graduate students and non-resident aliens.
- Document and implement process changes, communicating updates to the payroll team.
- Assist with 403B audits and reconcile data with financial records.
- Prepare and process manual check requests and manage payroll bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate electronic tax form completion with the IT department.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries and provide consistent communication to stakeholders.
- Lead special payroll projects and ensure timely and accurate completion.
Payroll Temp Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, HR, or payroll; 3 years preferred.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and BI reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders across the organization.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding student workers or junior staff is a plus.
