Nuclear Medicine Technologist Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform nuclear medicine imaging and therapy procedures adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
• Educate patients about procedures, ensuring understanding and cooperation for optimal results.
• Manage radiopharmaceuticals, including preparation, administration, storage, and disposal following regulations.
• Monitor patient conditions during procedures and respond to changes appropriately.
• Prepare and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring functionality and performing quality control checks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to maintain operational efficiency.
• Analyze imaging results, addressing quality issues and repeating procedures as necessary.
• Document and transmit scan results accurately for physician review and diagnosis.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Requirements

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
• Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT Nuclear Medicine (NM) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross required before start date.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 2 years preferred in nuclear medicine technology.
• Strong knowledge of radiopharmaceutical handling and imaging equipment operation.
• Ability to perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
