Job Captain Overview

  • The Job Captain will oversee project design, documentation, and delivery under limited direction, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop technical specifications and architectural detailing for diverse projects.
  • Engage in creative problem-solving, ensuring innovative solutions are applied to design challenges.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, ensuring compliance with building codes and client facility standards.
  • Utilize Revit, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite to produce high-quality design deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings, documenting discussions and decisions effectively for team reference.
  • Conduct site visits and walkthroughs, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to design specifications.
  • Support training and development initiatives by undertaking higher-level assignments as required.

Job Captain Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead design teams in developing architectural and interior detailing, ensuring project specifications are met.
  • Prepare preliminary design concepts, sketches, and detailed plans for project phases.
  • Analyze and apply building codes, guidelines, and client standards to design documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems and equipment.
  • Document and communicate project progress during team meetings, ensuring alignment with objectives.
  • Perform site documentation tasks, including walkthroughs and construction site meetings.
  • Lead contract administration activities, including punch lists and construction site documentation.
  • Supervise Designers and Interns, fostering collaboration and professional growth.

Job Captain Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited program required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design and documentation; 6 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong design orientation with creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Competent knowledge of building codes, guidelines, and contract document production.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document conversations accurately.
