Job Description

CAD Administrator Overview

  • The CAD Administrator will support, maintain, and enhance Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads design environments across multiple offices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and IT staff to ensure efficient design technology platforms.
  • Provide technical support and training to improve user proficiency and consistency across teams.
  • Develop documentation, standards, and training materials to promote best practices.
  • Streamline production workflows and enhance deliverable quality through process improvements.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain CAD standards and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
  • Contribute to technology strategy and standards across the organization.

CAD Administrator Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer environments.
  • Manage workspaces, standards, user configurations, and workspace customizations effectively.
  • Implement software updates, patches, and version control within Bentley CONNECT environments.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and provide day-to-day support for engineering and production staff.
  • Develop and lead training sessions to enhance user proficiency in CAD tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency through standards, automation, and improved processes.
  • Support integration with ProjectWise and other Bentley applications as applicable.
  • Assist with software licensing, deployment, and system compliance initiatives.

CAD Administrator Job Requirements

  • Associate of Arts (AA) degree or equivalent educational background required.
  • Minimum two years of experience administering Bentley MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer environments.
  • Strong understanding of workspace configuration, standards management, and template development.
  • Experience with Bentley CONNECT applications; ProjectWise experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering, transportation, or infrastructure project workflows preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT standards and CAD best practices is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in VBA, PowerShell, Python, or other automation tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills to support multidisciplinary teams.
