Legal Assistant Overview

  • The Legal Assistant will support up to six attorneys in a fast-paced litigation department, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality legal documentation.
  • Work in a leading firm specializing in insurance law, offering exposure to complex legal cases and professional growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and depositions.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and manage spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Enter attorney time using 3E software, maintaining meticulous records and supporting billing processes.
  • Provide reception coverage and administrative support, enhancing office operations and client interactions.

Legal Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist attorneys with drafting, editing, and finalizing legal documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepare and format tables of contents and authorities for legal pleadings, supporting case preparation.
  • Manage attorney timesheets and reports, utilizing 3E software for efficient time entry and billing.
  • Organize and maintain binders, files, and documentation, ensuring accessibility and compliance with firm standards.
  • Provide administrative support, including preparing travel authorization forms, check requests, and expense statements.
  • Perform reception duties, including screening calls and directing them to appropriate recipients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to open new cases and manage related documentation efficiently.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create spreadsheets and reports, supporting case analysis and decision-making.

Legal Assistant Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required, with a strong academic background preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Legal Assistant; five years preferred.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation, including TOA and TOC generation, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong formatting and organizational skills.
  • Experience with 3E software for time entry and billing processes preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with attorneys and clients professionally.
  • Willingness to work onsite, adhering to a structured schedule with opportunities for overtime.
