Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business partners in successfully resolving indirect tax inquiries.
- Develop processes and best practices for U.S. sales and use tax processes to improve efficiency and mitigate compliance risks.
- Provide guidance for the application of tax technology and enterprise systems/platforms used in the sales invoicing and procurement functions.
- Lead technology initiatives and adopt best practices to provide efficient and effective processes.
- Participate in discussions with senior management and other stakeholders on sales and use tax technical matters.
- Support and pursue tax recovery projects to contribute to the company’s financial success.
- Oversee the process for evaluating and pursuing various tax incentives and credits at the federal, state, and local levels and monitor outside providers in the completion.
- Support the team and ensure that sales and use tax accounts and metrics are maintained.
- Review monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Oversee business licenses, gross receipts, commercial activities, and business occupation-related returns.
- Develop and support a team to create and maintain a high-performing function.
- Direct overall indirect tax compliance calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
- Facilitate sales and use tax notices and information document requests.
- Lead the audit process, including the planning, and documentation of audit assessments, appeals, and closing agreements.
- Responsible for transfer pricing, income tax, and property tax including review of filing, private equity international requirements, and jurisdiction regulation.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Partnership Tax out of the Hedge fund industry
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master's degree preferred
- Experience with indirect tax compliance and audits.
- Advanced knowledge of US tax laws and regulations, as well as US GAAP and regulations related to accounting for taxes.
- Ability to apply tax knowledge in an effective and practical manner to ensure compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to coach, develop, and manage the performance of a team of professionals.
- Demonstrated capacity for the protection and security of confidential information.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff members in a team-oriented and dynamic environment.
- Strong written and interpersonal skills with the ability and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
