Summary:
This award-winning general contractor has a diverse project portfolio including healthcare, corporate office, multifamily and TI. They are known for their excellent culture, work/life balance and attention to detail in their projects.
They are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join their TI division. Though you would start in their TI division, you can move around to different divisions if you'd like in the future.
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will assist in the planning, execution, and finalization of construction projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. The APM will work closely with the Project Manager and other construction management staff to ensure that all aspects of the project are completed safely, on time, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in all phases of construction project lifecycle, including pre-construction planning, procurement, project execution, and close-out.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate execution of project plans.
- Coordinate on-site construction activities and schedules, and monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with approved plans, safety regulations, and project quality standards.
- Prepare and distribute project documentation including RFI's, submittals, change orders, schedules, and meeting minutes.
- Track and manage the project budget, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits, and report regularly on financial performance.
- Assist in managing subcontractor relationships, overseeing their performance and ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and safety protocols.
- Work closely with field superintendents to identify and resolve project issues and ensure timely project completion.
- Attend client, project, and construction meetings as needed to provide updates and progress reports.
- Conduct periodic site visits to inspect work progress, safety compliance, and quality control.
- Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and inspections are obtained and conducted in a timely manner.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service and promptly addressing any concerns.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing and delivering presentations to clients and stakeholders as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction management, project coordination, or as an assistant project manager, preferably with a general contractor.
- Knowledge of construction processes, means and methods, project scheduling, and financial management.
- Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and legal requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
