Job Description

This construction company with offices all over the country has heavy emphasis on work in the municipal, higher education, k-12 and JOC spaces. While they are a top ENR company, their regions work independently so you would not feel like a number. Specifically, this office is newer and there would be excellent growth opportunities.

 

Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing multiple construction projects within a Job Order Contracting (JOC) framework. This role requires close collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing fast-track projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution:
  • Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, and schedules within the JOC framework. Oversee project start-up and implementation, ensuring adherence to contract requirements.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. Maintain strong relationships, ensure clear communication, and address any concerns promptly.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting:
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and maintain accurate financial records. Ensure all projects are completed within the financial parameters set by the client and company.
  • Scheduling & Coordination:
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules as necessary to meet deadlines. Coordinate the efforts of subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain project momentum.
  • Risk Management & Problem Solving:
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Address issues as they arise to avoid project delays and cost overruns.
  • Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure high standards of workmanship.
  • Subcontractor Management:
  • Select, hire, and oversee subcontractors and vendors, ensuring they meet the necessary qualifications and performance expectations. Negotiate contracts and manage change orders.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and RFI logs. Provide regular updates to senior management and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in construction project management
  • JOC experience preferred but proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment will also be considered
  • Experience working with public sector clients (municipal, state, federal) is a plus.
  • Proficient in project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
