Summary:
We are a national general contractor with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, large-scale retail projects across the country. Our work focuses on big box retail, grocery chains, and national pharmacies. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, safety, and timely project completion. We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our team and oversee projects in various regions.
The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day field operations of large-scale retail construction projects. This role requires extensive travel throughout the Midwest, South, and Southeast, and candidates must be flexible and willing to work on-site for extended periods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big box retail construction and will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the on-site construction process from start to finish, including scheduling, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring quality control.
- Ensure compliance with all company and OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain effective communication with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work meets design specifications and quality standards.
- Lead and manage the site team, including subcontractors, to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
- Monitor project progress, track construction timelines, and adjust schedules as needed to ensure timely completion.
- Solve on-site issues and proactively address any potential delays or problems.
- Manage project documentation, including daily reports, logs, and other required paperwork.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, preferably with a focus on big box retail, grocery chains, or large-scale retail projects.
- Proven experience managing projects valued at $5M+.
- Ability to travel extensively and work on-site for the duration of projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, OSHA standards, and building codes.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades on-site.
- Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with large-scale retail clients such as Walmart, Target, Home Depot, CVS or similar.
- OSHA 30 certification or other relevant safety certifications.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $90,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)
