Job Description

Company Overview: A reputable construction management firm specializing in delivering high-quality projects across the Chicagoland area. With over four decades of experience, the company has built a strong portfolio in the educational, municipal, and commercial sectors, with a particular emphasis on K-12 school construction. They are HQ out of Mt. Prospect, IL and this person would be in office 5 days/week.

 

Position Overview: Seeking a Project Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing K-12 construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. If you do not have K-12 construction experience but has overseen multiple projects at once up to $20M, you could also be considered.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Coordination:
    • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of K-12 construction projects.
    • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, school district representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals and requirements are met.
  • Budget & Cost Management:
    • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
    • Monitor project costs and implement cost-saving measures as needed.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of project invoices and change orders.
  • Construction Oversight:
    • Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address any issues or concerns.
    • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Risk Management & Problem Solving:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively address and resolve project-related issues and conflicts.
    • Maintain a focus on safety, quality, and schedule throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, school district representatives, and project stakeholders.
    • Facilitate regular project meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and next steps.
    • Prepare and present project reports, including schedule updates and budget status.
  • Project Closeout:
    • Oversee project closeout activities, including punch list management, final inspections, and project documentation.
    • Ensure smooth turnover and handover to the client, addressing any post-construction issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion.
  • K-12 experience highly preferred but management of multiple projects at once up to $20M will also be considered
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
