Job Description
Title: Legal Administrative Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and filing legal documents for cases across state and federal courts in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
- Manage and organize both electronic and physical case files to ensure accessibility and compliance.
- Maintain attorney calendars by scheduling meetings, court appearances, and other critical deadlines.
- Coordinate the service of pleadings and manage court document submissions.
- Support case preparation activities including drafting correspondence, managing discovery documents, and preparing trial subpoenas and exhibits.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of legal documents and correspondence for grammatical and procedural compliance.
- Handle day-to-day administrative tasks such as filing, calendaring, and managing communications.
- Provide cross-departmental support as needed, including covering the front desk operations.
- Engage in continuous learning and training to enhance job performance and stay updated with relevant software and legal practices.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in a legal support role, preferably within a commercial litigation or family law environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with legal case management software, preferably PerfectLaw.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Experience with digital printing and photography is advantageous.
