Pediatric Nurse

Requirements:

• Licenses/Certifications:
  • CA RN license
  • BLS
  • PALS
• Experience:
  • 2 years ER/ICU and triage experience (1 year Pedi ER triage or 2 years Adult ER Triage)
  • Will consider Adult ER, but must have Pedi experience
  • 2 years travel experience preferred
  • Previous Children’s Hospital Experience is highly desired
  • Must Haves: ED or UC (pediatric or adult)

Shifts:

• Schedule:
  • 36 hours guaranteed weekly, may work up to 40 hours
  • 5 shifts a week (4 weekdays and 1 Sat/Sun shift)
  • Weekdays scheduled 15:00 – close (varying approximately 7-9 hours)
  • Weekends scheduled 12:30 – close (varying approximately 9-11 hours)

Floating:

• Home Site: South Bay
• Float Locations: La Mesa, Mid City, Chula Vista, Escondido, Oceanside, Murrieta
• Floating to Other Departments: No

Unit Summary:

• Bed Size: 36 beds
• Average Patients per Day: 200
• Ortho Clinic: Separate entity but shares space
• Urgent Care Sites: 4 sites may need a Traveler
• Responsibilities:
  • Perform sedations
  • Use computerized charting (EPIC)
  • 8 or 10 D/E rotation/weekends/holidays
  • NP Ratio 1:4
  • Apply nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of pediatric patient care
  • Select and administer appropriate care considering age, developmental level, and size of the patient
  • Provide a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing
  • Identify own limitations and seek resources as needed
  • Standards of Care, Clinical Skills and Judgment, Caring Practices, Facilitator of Learning/Clinical Inquiry, Advocacy/Moral Agency/Response to Diversity, Collaboration and Communication, Systems Thinking
