Job Description
Duties:
EHS Project Support
• Lead specialized EHS improvement projects such as a chemical inventory and safety data sheet project.
• Develop, track and summarize data from the projects to be communicated to senior leadership.
• Identify lean opportunities and manage project execution, SOP development and implementation roll out across all UGT sites including all stakeholders and initiating effective communications and trainings.
Develop, implement, and maintain required EHS related programs in accordance with local
Compliance Support
• Support management of permits, licenses, and reports to maintain compliance with Site Legal Register.
• Update, maintain, complete, and communicate potential risks for the items listed in the EHS Compliance Calendar.
• Develop, implement, and maintain required EHS related programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Respond to, report, and investigate unplanned EHS incidents that may arise (e.g., injuries, chemical spills, near misses).
• Identify, assess, and provide controls for existing and new workplace hazards.
• Provide EHS trainings to new hire employees.
• Perform routine inspections of laboratory spaces to ensure compliance with associated EHS laboratory health and safety standards and prepare reports for lab management teams.
EHS Management System Support
• Provide support for maintaining EHS Legal Register with related compliance calendar.
• Support maintenance of EHS Risk Register with annual updates.
• Assist with leading and lagging EHS Metrics tracking.
• Engage laboratory staff through meeting presentations, site communications and safety committee meetings.
• Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs including but not limited to:
o Chemical Hygiene
o Emergency Action Plan
o Bloodborne Pathogens
o Hazard Communication
o Ergonomics
o Personal Protective Equipment
EHS Training
• Conduct site specific EHS and lab safety training for new hires, oversee recordkeeping for associated trainings.
• Assist with external and internal audits and regulatory inspections, assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate and administer annual EHS safety and compliance trainings, evacuation drills, and safety team meetings.
Requirements:
- Understanding of EHS and regulatory compliance concepts
- Willingness to promote health and safety in a close-knit research environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Proficient communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Proficient technical writing and Microsoft office suite skills
- Ability to commute to Woburn and Somerville, MA and be on-site 5 days a week
