Job Description

Summary:

This 50-year-old general contractor has offices throughout Florida and specializes in commercial construction including light industrial, big box retail, hospitality, office, senior living and more. They do 80%+ repeat business and have an excellent reputation in the industry.

They are looking for a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to oversee the abundance of projects in their pipeline. This person MUST be local to Orlando and have an understanding of local subcontractors, market knowledge, etc.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Meets project deadlines, defines the project’s scope and determines available resources, realistically sets time estimates and evaluates the team or teams’ capabilities.
  • Establishes a clear and concise plan to both execute the project and monitor progress
  • Represent company as the client’s primary contact. Openly and confidently communicate with all other parties involved with the project, establishing trust and rapport with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Partners with the Construction Superintendent to co-develop a Master Schedule and ensures it is updated weekly.
  • Mentor and train Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers to ensure their ongoing career growth and development.
  • Execute subcontracts and purchase orders and approve subcontractor invoices and change requests.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and changes with clients.
  • Sets realistic deadlines and communicates them consistently to their teams
  • Keeps a project within its set budget and frequently reviews the budget and plans to avoid budget overruns.
  • Assists in setting goals and development strategies to achieve those goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (in construction, engineering, architecture or similar)
  • 8+ years of general contracting experience
  • MUST HAVE Orlando construction experience (no relocators)
  • Commercial projects required (tilt wall preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with owners, subcontractors, architects, engineers etc.
