- Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable. Provide support during the bidding process and throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Government & Federal Compliance: Ensure that all estimates are compliant with government regulations, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise), and other applicable guidelines and requirements.
- Job Order Contracting (JOC) Support: Assist with JOC scope development and pricing, including the management of unit prices, historical data, and pricing updates based on market trends.
- Cost Analysis & Value Engineering: Conduct cost analysis for different construction methods and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities or value engineering solutions.
- Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination: Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, review proposals, and ensure accurate incorporation of subcontractor costs into overall estimates.
- Risk Management: Identify and evaluate potential risks related to cost, schedule, and scope, and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies.
- Post-Bid Support: Assist with contract negotiations and value engineering after bid submission, including clarifications, scope adjustments, and change orders.
- Maintain Estimating Database: Update and maintain a historical cost database to ensure accurate pricing on future projects.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., AACE, CCM) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction estimating. Experience with federal, government or JOC work is highly preferred.
