Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager

Location: Austin, TX, United States (On-site)

Position Summary

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading all Safety, Health, and Environmental functions at the facility. This role ensures compliance with Corporate, Federal, State, and local regulations while minimizing risks to employees, the environment, and property. As a key member of the site management team, the EHS Manager provides technical expertise, evaluates hazards, implements solutions, and contributes to overall plant policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental regulations.
  • Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and enforce plant procedures, policies, and action plans to reduce losses.
  • Manage the EHS department budget, including recommending expenditures for safety equipment and systems.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and develop a qualified EHS staff.
  • Provide technical guidance on safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, ergonomic, and fire protection issues.
  • Review projects and provide loss control input on new or modified processes and equipment.
  • Develop and manage loss control programs (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hearing conservation, chemical safety).
  • Promote safety awareness among employees through training, incentives, and communication programs.
  • Serve as the environmental liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including spill cleanup and disaster planning.
  • Report on major property losses and human injuries to management.
  • Address fire insurance issues and inspections.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in Federal and State regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lead complex, multi-dimensional projects with operational, financial, and human impact.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to implement end-to-end solutions.
  • Mastery of professional EHS practices and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute site-specific EHS plans.
  • Supervisory experience with a track record of team development and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications: CSP, CHMM, or CIH certifications are preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental safety, or related fields.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
    • Mechanical knowledge or manufacturing operations experience strongly preferred.
