Job Description

  1. Diagnosis and Evaluation: Assessing patients with traumatic injuries to determine the extent and nature of their injuries. This often involves physical examinations, imaging studies (like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs), and other diagnostic tests
  2. Emergency Care: Providing immediate care to stabilize patients, which may include managing fractures, dislocations, and other acute injuries. This often involves working in emergency settings and trauma centers
  3. Surgical Intervention: Performing surgeries to repair complex fractures, reconstruct damaged bones and joints, and address other severe injuries. This can include procedures like internal fixation, external fixation, and joint reconstruction
  4. Postoperative Care: Monitoring patients after surgery to ensure proper healing and recovery. This includes managing pain, preventing infections, and addressing any complications that may arise
  5. Rehabilitation Planning: Collaborating with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement rehabilitation plans that help patients regain function and mobility
  6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Working closely with other specialists, such as general surgeons, neurosurgeons, and rehabilitation therapists, to provide comprehensive care for patients with multiple injuries
  7. Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about their injuries, treatment options, and recovery processes to ensure they are well-informed and can participate actively in their care
  8. Research and Education: Engaging in research to advance the field of orthopedic trauma and participating in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
