Job Description

A Food and Beverage client is looking for a Supply Chain Financial Analyst in their New Jersey office.

Role Purpose:

Support the Accounting Director in managing accounting tasks related to ODC warehousing and distribution activities. Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to maintain accounting data for regular reporting on Inventory Management and Supply Chain KPIs.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Accounting Director in executing procedures for recording and reconciling inventory balances and distribution costs.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain team to develop performance reporting packs and KPIs for inventory management and distribution costs.
  • Plan annual processes for validating inventory balances, including ODC warehouse and 14 Control State/Bailment consignment warehouses nationwide.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory balances, ensuring all locations and accounts are reconciled and variances are explained or investigated.
  • Produce monthly analyses of distribution costs and work with the Supply Chain team to understand and reconcile variances.
  • Validate monthly general ledger accounts related to product costing and the methodology for recording cost of goods sold and any resulting variances.
  • Assist the Business Planning Manager in producing budgets and forecasts for distribution costs.
  • Review Transfer Prices/COGS with BBU and ensure ongoing accuracy of recording in accounts.
  • Complete month-end postings for distribution activity and any required inventory adjustments, including inventory provisions.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies between invoices and inventory receipts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting/finance analyst role, preferably with consumer packaged goods experience.
  • Experience with wholesale industry inventory is desirable but not required.
  • Proficient in inventory adjustments, journal entries, variance analysis, and general reconciliation.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, formatting, charting, pivot tables, and reporting).
  • Experience in accounting practices up to and including trial balance.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with proven analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well in a team-oriented environment, specifically with Accounting, Supply Chain, and Customer Relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
