Job Description

As a Traveling Superintendent, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and on-site management of construction projects across various locations. You will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and organized job site. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, capable of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight

  • Supervise all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, coordinating subcontractors, and managing resources.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, blueprints, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor progress and adjust schedules or plans to meet deadlines.

Team Leadership

  • Direct and manage on-site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Train and mentor team members to maintain high performance and adherence to safety protocols.

Quality Control and Safety

  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure the quality of work and adherence to company standards.
  • Enforce safety regulations and procedures, maintaining a safe job site for all workers.
  • Address and resolve any safety or quality issues promptly.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, including daily logs, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding project status, challenges, and milestones.
  • Ensure all permits and inspections are completed and documented.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel frequently and remain on-site during the duration of assigned projects.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying project locations and conditions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, with a proven track record of managing commercial or industrial projects.
  • Experience working for a general contractor
  • Ground-up with site work experience required, self-storage experience a plus

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and work collaboratively with clients, architects, and engineers.

Certifications

  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
