Job Description

Title: Staff Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the complete accounting cycle to ensure accuracy in financial documents and compliance with internal protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with the Budget Committee and Financial Controller to uphold financial integrity.
  • Prepare detailed monthly journal entries, conduct internal account reconciliations, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Handle monthly bank reconciliations and ensure alignment with the general ledger.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all financial and office data.
  • Interact professionally with parishioners, ministers, and external vendors, providing high-level communication and support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in accounts payable, payroll processing, financial reporting, and budget management.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and IRS regulations applicable to 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Proficiency in church accounting software (ACS preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in preparing for periodic audits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly.
  • Preferred experience includes working in a faith-based non-profit environment and applying accounting principles in a church setting.
