Project Engineer – Commercial/Light Industrial Construction

Overview:

Our client, a Midwest-based general contractor with regional offices in Ohio, is seeking a project engineer to join their Columbus office. This firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across various sectors, including light industrial, healthcare, higher education, data centers, and public and private developments. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work alongside an experienced project management team on complex and impactful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of project activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project-related documentation.
  • Maintain project drawings and specifications, ensuring all updates are accurately recorded.
  • Support job site operations by coordinating material deliveries and subcontractor work.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide status updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineer, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction with a sub-contractor or general contractor
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other construction management software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and support multiple projects.
