Job Title: Nurse Manager – Med/Surg Telemetry

This is an exciting leadership opportunity where you’ll provide supervision and support to a busy 30-bed unit within a large non-profit community hospital system. The unit consists of a diverse and skilled team of 41 FTEs, including RNs, PCAs, and unit clerks, and we’re looking for a leader with strong emotional intelligence, who can guide the team toward excellence in patient care and operational efficiency. We are also excited to welcome candidates who bring fresh perspectives from outside the organization.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Med/Surg Telemetry unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient staffing.
• Provide leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team of nurses, patient care assistants, and unit clerks.
• Report directly to the Director of Med/Surg and the VP of Nursing.
• Collaborate with staff to develop and implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
• Manage the unit’s budget, staffing, and resources to maximize operational efficiency.
• Foster a supportive, positive work environment that encourages staff engagement and retention.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including accreditation and safety standards.
• Lead and manage performance appraisals, training, and professional development for staff.
• Act as a liaison between the nursing staff and leadership, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across departments.
• Promote a culture of patient safety, ensuring that all staff are fully trained on relevant protocols and safety measures.
Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) with active Louisiana nursing license.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Supervisory experience as an RN will be accepted.
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to lead a team with empathy and integrity.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Med/Surg Telemetry operations and clinical standards.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and maintaining calm under pressure.
