    Collaborate with Analysts and Managers

Job Description

The position's regular working hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with additional overtime required based on the demands of the practice area attorneys and the Business Development department.

Primary Responsibilities include the following, with additional tasks as assigned:

  • Collaborate with Analysts and Managers to identify relevant precedents by industry, geography, and transaction type, assisting in the preparation of targeted materials (such as pitch books, brochures, and other presentations) that effectively communicate the Firm’s experience and reasons for retention.
  • Maintain and update standard pitch files and collateral.
  • Keep lawyer biographies updated across various formats (print and digital).
  • Maintain a detailed record of all pitches, research, and meetings, especially those related to local counsel relationships.
  • Oversee production tasks (editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and assembling) to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
  • Assist in preparing legal directory and award submissions, including compiling deal lists and drafting partner emails for references.
  • Update relevant deal databases, client relationship management (CRM) systems, and provide business and political news clippings and more extensive reports, as directed by the BD Analyst.
  • Support BD Analysts in competitive intelligence research to keep attorneys informed on clients, prospects, competitors, and market trends.
  • Stay updated on Firm, regional, and market news concerning clients, prospects, local counsel, and practice alumni, sharing relevant information with attorneys and staff.
  • Coordinate with BD Analysts and partner assistants to plan practice development trips, including organizing meetings, preparing materials, drafting correspondence, and handling post-trip follow-up.
  • Maintain organized records of materials related to practice groups (including partner contacts, deal lists, biographies, and meeting notes).
  • Collaborate with BD Analysts, Digital Marketing, and Communications teams to update internal newsletters, the Firm’s website, and social media platforms with practice updates.
  • Draft partner communications regarding clients, prospects, and local law firm relationships.
  • Research conferences and speaking opportunities to identify potential marketing options for partners, and assist in follow-up marketing activities.
  • Help BD Analysts and Events team with planning and executing internal and externally facing events, such as client, alumni, and practice group member events.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Additionally, employees must adhere to the Firm’s policies on information security, ensuring the protection of firm and client data from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction, and reporting any security risks or breaches.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing/editing, proofreading, grammar, and research skills (writing and language test required).
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global BD team.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation software (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), with familiarity in CRM systems a plus. Additional training may be provided.
  • Capacity to handle time-sensitive requests and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and professionalism, in line with Sullivan & Cromwell’s legal practice.

Education and/or Experience:

  • One to three years of experience in a law firm, financial institution, or another professional services firm preferred. Personal assistants, paralegals, and legal assistants are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
