ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Practice Development

  • Assist partners in managing current relationships and identifying opportunities for new business development initiatives.
    • Monitor and maintain communication with referral sources.
    • Collaborate with the CRM database team to manage and enhance contact intelligence.
  • Support partners in preparing targeted marketing materials (pitch books, brochures, deal sheets) to effectively communicate the Firm's relevant experience and value proposition.
    • Identify relevant precedents by industry, geography, and matter type.
    • Develop key messaging points with responsible partners.
    • Assist in responding to Legal Panel RFPs.
    • Track all pitches and analyze patterns to improve future presentations and identify best practices.
  • Ensure timely updates to marketing materials, including individual biographies, practice descriptions, and relevant accomplishments.
  • Assist partners in creating and executing individual business plans, focusing on high-value opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Communications, Digital Marketing, and Creative Services teams to enhance the practice’s visibility.

Press Relations and Rankings/Awards

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to identify guide submission opportunities, prepare submissions for directories like Chambers, and ensure positive results are leveraged across marketing channels.
  • Work with Communications to identify relevant PR/media opportunities and develop award submissions.

Marketing Materials and Research

  • Draft compelling marketing content that highlights the unique aspects of each matter.
  • Support market and competitive intelligence efforts and report key trends to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to events and client education programs and identify sponsorship opportunities to boost the Firm's profile in targeted regions and sectors.

Information Security and Firm Compliance

  • Adhere to Firm information security policies, ensuring the protection of Firm assets from unauthorized access, modification, or interference.
  • Report security events or risks to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior business development experience in a top-tier U.S. law firm.
  • Strong understanding of transactional terminology and processes, with a basic understanding of terminology.
  • Familiarity with the competitive legal market.
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals with minimal supervision.
  • Strong team player, comfortable working independently or as part of a global BD team.
  • Excellent writing, editing, analytical, research, and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail. (A writing test is required.)
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), with experience in CRM systems being a plus. The Firm offers training to enhance skills as needed.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive requests from multiple lawyers across different time zones, maintaining quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with senior attorneys and staff.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism that define the Firm’s legal practice.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in a law firm, financial institution, or professional services firm.
  • Experience in presenting and writing for Executive/Partner-level audiences.
  • BA or equivalent required; JD, MBA, or other graduate degrees are a plus.
