Job Description

Property Controller

Successful, highly reputable, New York based owner/operator of office and multi-family properties seeks a Property Controller to handle the accounting for a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

· Maintain general ledgers for a portfolio of commercial office or residential properties

· Prepare monthly workpapers and reporting package including financial statements and variance analysis

· Reporting on tax, GAAP and IFRS basis

· Maintain cash forecast model and monitor cash flow

· Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

· Perform other property-related financial duties such as sales tax returns, management fee calculations, intercompany analysis and reimbursements

· Calculate and prepare annual real estate tax and operating escalations

· Review accounts payable invoices for coding

· Interface with investors and lenders

· Assist in budget preparation and review

· Assist in year-end audit process

· Establish relationships with building and asset managers in order to gain a better understanding of the property

· Assist on various property related projects

Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of Property Accounting experience with commercial real estate
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; MBA preferred 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills 
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality, must be a team player who is committed to lifelong learning 
  • A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment 
  • An effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills
