Certified Medical Assistant

Job Description
Duties:
- Welcome and greet patients in a polite and professional manner
- Answer phone calls and connect to appropriate parties
- Verify patient information, medical history, and purpose of visit
- Accurately document and input patient information and charts
- Coordinate with insurance companies to ensure patient eligibility
- Prepare patients for examinations: provide gown examination gowns, take vital signs including weight and temperature, arrange and clean medical instruments, etc.
- Support healthcare providers during examinations, including but not limited to: lab work and results, preparing x-rays, administering medication, authorizing drug refills, changing dressings, urine tests, etc.
- Educate patients by providing medication information
- Keep supplies ready by taking inventory of stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment by following safety and regulation procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active certification as a Medical Assistant
- Experience in a medical environment
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- High degree of independence and initiative on sensitive and complex issues
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information
