Job Description
Law firm in midtown Manhattan is seeking a Word Processor for a fully on-site position.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Word Processor who will:
- Collaborate closely with attorneys to understand and meet their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Word Processors assist secretaries with preparing standard documents for assigned attorneys. For more complex tasks and documents, the Word Processing Department (WP) provides additional support.
- Responsibilities include proofreading document edits, correcting spelling and grammar using Spell Check, and ensuring the proper format for each document. Note that WP does not handle citation checking or content proofreading.
Key tasks include:
- Input and editing of legal documents (e.g., briefs, pleadings, memoranda, and other large documents like interrogatories and document requests).
- Formatting documents to meet proper style guidelines.
- Generating tables of contents and authorities.
- Bookmarking and hyperlinking documents.
- Converting PDFs to MS Word and reformatting as needed.
- Creating and editing Word charts, Excel tables, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Editing CorelDraw Policy Charts (installed on specific workstations).
- Troubleshooting issues in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Scanning and editing documents in Foxit PDF (including redaction, Bates numbering, headers/footers, and exhibit page insertion).
- Assisting with mail merges and creating legal Bluebacks.
- Managing special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in a professional services environment, with law firm experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or Regents Diploma preferred.
- Excellent professional references.
Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Foxit PDF.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and reliably under pressure.
- Effective communicator with attorneys, staff, and team members regarding tasks, deadlines, and challenges.
