Job Description

Title: Bankruptcy Paralegal

Responsibilities:

  • Manage case files from referral through post-closing for both commercial and residential foreclosure proceedings
  • Prepare pleadings, notices, affidavits, and docket filings related to foreclosure and bankruptcy cases
  • Draft and process bankruptcy filings, including petitions and claims, using federal court e-filing systems (CM/ECF)
  • Coordinate directly with court administrators, trustees, and legal counterparts to ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements
  • Review loan records, title reports, and legal documents to identify issues and prepare summaries or claims
  • Liaise with clients and maintain consistent communication throughout the case lifecycle
  • Support litigation efforts with legal research, document preparation, and case tracking
  • Handle administrative overflow and help manage junior administrative staff when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems using legal software and Microsoft Office tools

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in foreclosure, bankruptcy, or creditor’s rights, with an emphasis on Maryland cases
  • Experience preparing filings for state and federal courts; familiarity with electronic filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF)
  • Understanding of loan servicing documentation, title reports, and land records; title processing or insurance background is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification (or equivalent work experience)
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex casework with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients and external parties
