We’re partnering with a mission-driven healthcare system in Houston, TX, seeking a seasoned and strategic leader for the role of Director of Health Information Management (HIM). You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead and mentor a skilled HIM team, including coders and record technicians, across multiple locations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, IT, clinicians, and finance to enhance documentation practices and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, CHIQ, and other regulatory standards.
- Oversee EHR system performance and help implement cutting-edge technology upgrades.
- Improve coding accuracy and reimbursement through training, audits, and workflow enhancements.
- Provide critical insights through reporting and data analysis that inform operational and clinical strategies.
✅ What They’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in HIM within a hospital or health system
- 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing HIM operations
- Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and medical coding practices
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems and healthcare compliance standards
- Analytical, tech-savvy, and an excellent communicator across departments
