Job Description

Title: Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Review risk assessment documentation submitted by grant partners, including audit reports, governance materials, and financial statements
  • Evaluate and rate grantee risk using standardized tools and scoring methods
  • Monitor and review grant disbursement requests to confirm adherence to award terms and allowable expenses
  • Assist in coordinating and supporting subrecipient monitoring activities, including desk reviews and third-party audits
  • Track compliance benchmarks through ongoing maintenance of monthly compliance reports; flag subawards that exceed thresholds for risk
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, escalating as appropriate
  • Support the development and refinement of internal procedures to improve subaward oversight and reduce risk
  • Assist in preparing documentation and responses related to audits, internal reviews, and funder inquiries
  • Take on other tasks and special projects as assigned to support the compliance team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, nonprofit management, public administration, or accounting (preferred)
  • 2–4 years of experience with grants management, particularly related to federal funding compliance
  • Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance and federal cost principles strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (especially Excel); familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Workday, LogicGate, or SharePoint is a plus
