Job Description
Title: Research Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on SEC filings, agreements, precedents, and regulatory documents
- Perform corporate research on companies, individuals, transactions, and governance matters
- Support litigation efforts with research into dockets, pleadings, cases, and complex fact patterns
- Compile and interpret legislative, regulatory, financial, and statistical data
- Monitor news, filings, and legal activity via alerts and automated tools
- Contribute data and insights for internal publications, client presentations, and firm seminars
- Oversee and ensure quality of research conducted by external vendors or agents
- Assist in onboarding and training new hires in legal research tools and methodologies
- Evaluate new research tools and recommend resources to improve firmwide information access
Qualifications:
- M.S. in Library Science required; J.D. is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of legal research experience in a large law firm or financial services environment
- Proficient in research platforms including Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Capital IQ, Pacer, Courtlink, Intelligize, FactSet, Deal Point Data, ISS Compass, Refinitiv, and others
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Professional demeanor and client service orientation
