We’re seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Perinatal Nursing Services to lead a growing women’s and children’s service line at a respected acute care hospital in South/Central Texas.
With a strong foundation in place—including a fully staffed team of 100+ nurses, CNAs, techs, and a program manager—this role offers the chance to help shape the future of perinatal care in the region. As the Executive Nurse Director of Maternity Services, you will lead the department through a critical transition: the expansion from a Level II to Level III NICU and the opening of a new tower that will triple NICU capacity.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day and strategic operations for all perinatal units as the Administrative Director – Women’s Health Nursing, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and performance goals.
- Directly supervise two Clinical Directors: one for Mother/Baby (already in place) and one for NICU (currently hiring).
- Oversee the readiness and launch of a new 20-bed Level III NICU, transitioning from current Level II services.
- Maintain regulatory compliance, support accreditation efforts, and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as a collaborative partner to OB/GYNs, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and support teams.
- Utilize Epic for clinical documentation, reporting, and communication across care teams.
- Represent the department in hospital-wide strategic initiatives and system leadership councils.
- Act as the Perinatal Services Nursing Director, advocating for resources, innovation, and excellence across the continuum of women’s and newborn care.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with active Texas license (or eligibility through a compact state).
- BSN required; MSN, MHA, or related master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in perinatal or women’s health nursing.
- Proven ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and navigate clinical change.
- Familiarity with NICU services, hospital expansion projects, and maternal-child health programs.
- Experience with Epic preferred and comfort with implementing technology-driven solutions.
- Strong communicator and team builder with a proactive, system-minded approach.
