Job Description

Title: Controller

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including monthly close processes, variance analysis, and budgeting
  • Lead the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
  • Identify and investigate key financial variances, with the ability to distill insights and inform operational decisions
  • Supervise a small accounting/finance team, providing coaching and professional development
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP standards and support SOX internal control documentation and remediation efforts
  • Serve as a liaison with the parent network for accounting policy, controls, and systems implementation
  • Support the coordination and development of annual budgets across multiple operating units
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, physicians, and centralized departments to align financial goals with clinical operations
  • Assist with ensuring contractual compliance with third-party relationships and internal financial agreements

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Experience in healthcare, physician practices, or multisite medical groups strongly preferred
  • CPA and/or MBA credentials are a plus
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems, reporting, and financial controls; familiarity with healthcare practice metrics a major advantage
  • Highly analytical, with an ability to translate financial data into business insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working cross-functionally in a mission-driven environment
