Job Description

Title: Bankruptcy Paralegal

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare petitions, schedules, and financial statements for bankruptcy filings using software platforms such as Bestcase
  • Coordinate directly with court staff, opposing counsel, clients, and U.S. Trustee offices on procedural and administrative matters
  • Support attorneys in preparing pleadings including motions, claims, disclosure statements, and adversary proceedings
  • Assist with compiling and e-filing documents in federal bankruptcy court (CM/ECF)
  • Prepare and review monthly and final fee applications in compliance with local rules
  • Conduct initial review and reconciliation of claims for case planning or distribution strategies
  • Assist with conflict checks, client onboarding, and business development efforts
  • Prepare supporting materials for mediations, hearings, and depositions
  • Conduct Pacer and docket research and track case filings
  • Monitor deadlines and maintain organized case files and internal records

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; paralegal certificate is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in bankruptcy legal support, preferably at a law firm handling complex Chapter 11 work
  • Proficiency in court e-filing systems, Bestcase, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with local rules in federal bankruptcy jurisdictions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Professional demeanor with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
