Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced VDI engineer to lead the design, optimization, and support of our virtual desktop environment across both on-premises and cloud platforms. This role will play a strategic part in shaping the future of end-user computing by evaluating and implementing modern virtualization technologies that enhance performance, security, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and manage enterprise virtual desktop environments using leading virtualization platforms.
- Oversee the deployment and maintenance of virtual applications and desktops across hybrid infrastructures.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve user experience, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that align with business needs.
- Provide advanced support for escalated issues related to virtual desktops, user profiles, and application delivery.
- Monitor system health and performance using analytics tools and automation scripts.
- Implement security best practices, including multi-factor authentication and encrypted access gateways.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and architectural decisions.
- Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects involving upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in virtual desktop platforms such as Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Strong knowledge of profile and session management tools (e.g., FSLogix, Ivanti, WEM).
- Experience with cloud-based VDI solutions and hybrid deployments.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise networking.
- Experience with monitoring and analytics tools for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of secure access technologies, including gateway configurations and TLS encryption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing large-scale virtual desktop environments.
- Relevant certifications in virtualization or cloud technologies are highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead technical initiatives.
