Job Description

Title: Paralegal – Medical Malpractice

Responsibilities

  • Draft and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, expert designations, and correspondence
  • Review, request, and organize medical records and documentation needed for case progression and trial
  • Schedule depositions, court appearances, and expert meetings
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and witnesses, providing updates and collecting relevant case details
  • Track and maintain medical expenses, liens, and case-related costs
  • Log and manage key deadlines, including statutes of limitation, hearings, expert disclosures, and trial dates
  • Conduct legal and medical background research using platforms such as LexisNexis
  • Coordinate medical lien identification, verification, and resolution
  • Support trial preparation through detailed recordkeeping, calendaring, and case file management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting litigation in medical malpractice and/or personal injury cases
  • Excellent communication skills with comfort speaking to clients, experts, and opposing counsel
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and litigation support software
  • Familiarity with legal research tools, especially LexisNexis, strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand medical terminology and records
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing deadlines and case logistics
