Position Overview
A respected design-build contractor specializing in light industrial, cold storage, and food and beverage facilities is seeking a Traveling Assistant Superintendent to join its growing construction team. This role is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in field operations and a strong desire to work in fast-paced, technical environments where attention to detail, safety, and quality are paramount.
As a Traveling Assistant Superintendent, you will support on-site leadership in coordinating daily field activities, managing subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with strict industry standards for clean construction and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily job site operations, assisting the Superintendent in scheduling, coordination, and subcontractor management
- Enforce project-specific safety standards, site cleanliness, and regulatory compliance (including food safety protocols when applicable)
- Monitor work progress and report on milestones, schedule adherence, and field issues
- Conduct and document quality inspections, ensuring conformance to project specs and industry standards
- Manage delivery logistics, site access, and material staging with an eye on efficiency and organization
- Keep accurate daily reports, photographs, and logs
- Foster positive relationships with subcontractors, clients, and internal project teams
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in construction; prior experience with cold storage, food & beverage processing, or light industrial projects strongly preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (typically Monday–Friday, occasional weekends as required)
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and job site safety
- Familiarity with construction documentation and reporting
- Comfortable working in temperature-controlled or active food environments, when necessary
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore or similar construction software is a plus
- OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
