Job Description
An established, full-service hospital in Tennessee is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to oversee the strategic, clinical, and operational functions of its busy, high-acuity emergency department. This is a top opportunity for an experienced ER nursing leader to join a Level II Trauma Center known for its innovation, excellence in neuroscience, and commitment to patient-centered care.
Emergency Department Overview:
- 53 Emergency Room beds
- Daily volume: 150–190 patients
- Level II Trauma Center
- Team includes 115 FTEs, 2 Nurse Managers, and 4 Clinical Nurse Coordinators
- Director reports directly to the COO
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of emergency services operations
- Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and patient safety
- Drive initiatives focused on throughput, quality metrics, and patient experience
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, compliance, and adherence to all regulatory standards
- Develop and implement department budgets and monitor performance
- Collaborate with physician leadership and administrative teams to improve outcomes and grow services
- Ensure optimal team performance through coaching, engagement, and staff development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Active RN license (or eligibility)
- Minimum of 3 years of emergency services leadership experience at the Director level
- Prior experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center required
- Proven background managing large-volume ERs with complex patient populations
