    Well established Public Accounting Firm in Nassau County is looking to add an Audit/Accounting Supervisor to their experienced team.

Job Description

The Audit/Accounting Supervisor serves as the in-charge on audit and assurance engagements, leading teams through planning, fieldwork, financial statement preparation, and wrap-up. Acting as a key liaison with clients and partners, you’ll mentor staff, maintain quality standards, and identify opportunities for firm growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement Leadership: Plan, execute, and manage multiple audit, review, and compilation engagements across industry segments
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Serve as primary in-charge—train, review, mentor senior associates and juniors, and ensure team adherence to GAAP/GAAS standards
  • Client Communication: Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, status updates, and timely issue resolution
  • Technical Review: Review audit workpapers, financial statements, footnotes, disclosures, and internal control assessments for accuracy and compliance
  • Engagement Economics: Monitor engagement budgets and time tracking, ensuring profitability without sacrificing quality
  • Identification of Opportunities: Recognize and recommend audit, advisory, or consulting leads while conducting technical research and supporting proposals
  • Cross‑Team Collaboration: Liaise with tax, advisory, and bookkeeping partners for integrated services delivery as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related finance field; Master’s preferred
  • Certifications: CPA licensed in NY or actively pursuing licensure required
  • Experience: 5–10+ years of public accounting experience, including demonstrated supervisory roles in audit engagements
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of US GAAP, GAAS, and industry‑specific accounting
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of Excel, Word, audit documentation tools
  • Skills: Exceptional communication (written and oral), leadership, analytical reasoning, organizational ability, and client-facing presence
