Overview
- Lead and manage the Surgery Services department in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Collaborate with another Nurse Manager to ensure 24/7 leadership coverage.
- Provide strategic oversight to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Support staff development and foster a positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality improvement processes.
- Contribute to program development and performance improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide leadership visibility at outpatient surgery centers as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop, maintain, and evaluate nursing practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Monitor staff performance and quality of procedures in assigned areas.
- Manage resources effectively to meet financial and operational objectives.
- Lead and motivate teams, delegating tasks and analyzing information for problem-solving.
- Ensure adequate leadership coverage during extended hours and staggered shifts.
- Participate in program development and unit performance improvement activities.
- Fulfill roles such as Charge Nurse or direct patient care provider as needed.
- Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, and surgeons to address needs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience in Perioperative Services or Procedural Areas.
- Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Certifications in CPR, ACLS, and PALS (within one year of employment).
- Specialty Certification in Surgical Services (CNOR) preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality improvement processes, and financial management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on-site in a Level II Trauma hospital with 12 ORs.
