Job Description

Overview

  • Lead a remote accounting operations team, managing bookkeeping and financial reporting for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Oversee a team of nine professionals, ensuring accurate and timely workflow execution and client deliverables.
  • Utilize Keeper or similar tools to monitor workflow, quality, and deliverables across multiple clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve financial discrepancies and align expectations effectively.
  • Design and document workflows for accounts payable, receivable, prepaids, accruals, and period-end cutoffs.
  • Review and approve monthly financial statements, ensuring completeness and alignment with supporting schedules.
  • Identify process gaps and automation opportunities, implementing standard templates and review checklists.
  • Monitor workload across clients, reassign tasks, and recommend hiring or outsourcing as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals across multiple levels and locations.
  • Manage the end-to-end close calendar using Keeper or similar tools for task tracking.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to resolve open items and clarify transactions.
  • Oversee bookkeeping staff to ensure timely and accurate entry of all financial activity.
  • Design and oversee workflows for accounts payable, receivable, prepaids, accruals, and period-end cutoffs.
  • Review and approve monthly financial statements prior to client distribution.
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements for quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor workload across clients and recommend staffing adjustments as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience in consulting and advisory firms.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AP, AR, prepaids, accruals, and period-end close processes.
  • Experience with cloud accounting ecosystems like QuickBooks Online or NetSuite.
  • Proficiency in Keeper or similar close/workflow management tools preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation and working with large datasets.
  • Strong communication skills for translating accounting findings into actionable guidance.
