Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team as a Nurse Manager, overseeing daily operations and ensuring optimal patient care standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to maintain compliance with policies and protocols, enhancing departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to staff development through performance appraisals, goal setting, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Manage departmental resources, including budget oversight and inventory control, ensuring adequate supplies and fiscal responsibility.
  • Participate in process improvement activities to elevate patient care quality and operational workflows.
  • Act as a change agent, supporting management decisions and fostering a positive organizational culture.
  • Maintain professional growth through independent study and continuing education programs to stay updated on best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with facility standards and address potential issues proactively to uphold safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct daily operations of the PACU, ensuring efficient staffing and resource allocation to meet patient care needs.
  • Oversee personnel performance appraisals, establishing clear goals and development plans for team members.
  • Regularly review and update departmental manuals, policies, procedures, and protocols to align with current standards.
  • Monitor facility conditions, implementing corrective actions to address existing or potential issues promptly.
  • Participate in budget planning and inventory management, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adequate supplies.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications in ACLS and BCLS preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensure required with a minimum of 2 years of OR or day surgery experience.
  • Previous management experience in a healthcare setting is essential for success in this role.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and develop a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to oversee budget planning and inventory control processes.
