Job Description

Overview

  • Lead strategic and operational management of perioperative services across multiple campuses and facilities.
  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care within surgical services, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance surgical services and meet community healthcare needs.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals aligned with organizational mission and values.
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory standards and maintain licensure and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote professional development and succession planning within the surgical services team.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and integrate evidence-based practices and technology.
  • Serve as a liaison between administration, medical staff, and employees to ensure effective communication.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide leadership for surgical departments, including operating rooms, pre- and post-anesthesia care units, and sterile processing.
  • Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical leaders to ensure efficient governance of surgical services.
  • Monitor and improve surgical performance metrics, including patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and maintain compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Recruit and retain qualified surgical staff, fostering professional growth and engagement.
  • Implement electronic health records and clinical informatics tools to enhance care delivery.
  • Respond to emergent issues with decisiveness and accountability to ensure operational continuity.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required.
  • Registered Nurse credential with 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in perioperative services.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Perioperative Nurse, Certified Nurse Manager and Leader, Certified Executive Nursing Practice.
  • Experience in Magnet-designated health systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, surgical performance metrics, and clinical informatics tools.
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster collaboration and engagement.
