Job Description

Overview

  • Lead property accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily assets within a dynamic and innovative real estate environment.
  • Ensure accurate GAAP reporting, lender compliance, and financial data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and maintain robust internal controls across accounting functions.
  • Collaborate with onsite teams to manage fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and project cost tracking.
  • Support system implementations and maintain updated accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor budget performance, review general ledger accounts, and manage journal entries using advanced accounting software.
  • Own monthly close processes for assigned properties, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial trends and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain internal controls, remediate gaps, and oversee compliance testing for accounting operations.
  • Lead debt compliance and lender deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with teams to manage fixed asset capitalization, project closeouts, and depreciation schedules.
  • Support technology integrations and process automation to enhance operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience; 15 years preferred, ideally in residential real estate.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, Blackline, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with lender reporting and debt compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and drive continuous improvements.
