Overview

  • Work remotely as a Pharmacy Technician on a contract basis, supporting prior authorization processes and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Utilize vendor tools to determine eligibility and process pharmacy prior authorization requests efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and physicians to collect and organize relevant medical information for review.
  • Document communication and decision-making processes clearly while adhering to established criteria and standards.
  • Provide timely notifications regarding prior authorization outcomes, ensuring compliance with content and accuracy standards.
  • Participate in group training sessions lasting 4-5 weeks to gain proficiency in tools and procedures.
  • Work within a structured schedule, including potential weekend shifts, to meet organizational needs.
  • Contribute to a dynamic team environment focused on delivering exceptional service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Determine eligibility and process pharmacy prior authorization requests using specialized tools and systems.
  • Prepare and distribute authorization requests for pharmacist or physician review, responding to additional information requests.
  • Collect medical information via phone, fax, and portal, applying appropriate criteria for decision-making.
  • Ensure timely decision-making and escalate cases requiring pharmacist review promptly.
  • Communicate authorization outcomes orally and in writing, adhering to timeliness and accuracy standards.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations governing pharmacy authorization processes.
  • Participate in structured training sessions to develop proficiency in tools and processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives and organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy-related field; 3 years preferred.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in phone etiquette and typing, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work remotely and adhere to structured schedules, including weekends.
  • Commitment to completing group training sessions without PTO interruptions.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations in pharmacy authorization processes.
