Overview

  • Lead laboratory operations at a healthcare organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards and protocols.
  • Supervise a team of Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Lab Assistants, promoting excellence in testing and analysis.
  • Manage workload distribution effectively, ensuring timely and accurate laboratory results.
  • Implement operational goals and objectives to enhance laboratory performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, including TJC, DHS, and CLIA 88 requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient care through reliable laboratory services.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory staff, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and advancement of laboratory services within the organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise daily laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards.
  • Manage laboratory staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
  • Oversee compliance with institutional, industry, and federal regulations governing laboratory practices.
  • Coordinate resource allocation between shared campuses to optimize laboratory efficiency.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve laboratory goals and objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results to support clinical decision-making.
  • Maintain knowledge of scientific principles and technical aspects of laboratory testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to enhance patient care through laboratory services.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
  • At least three years of leadership experience in a laboratory setting, acute care preferred.
  • State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards including TJC, DHS, and CLIA 88.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing principles and their clinical applications.
  • Proficiency in laboratory management, financial oversight, and human resource practices.
  • Ability to manage shared resources and staff across multiple campuses.
