Job Description

Overview

  • Lead emergency and trauma nursing services in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for emergency department functions.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care delivery in a Level I trauma center.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize emergency department performance.
  • Support clinical staff competency and resource management for patient care.
  • Manage approximately 60 employees within the emergency department.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and professional growth among nursing staff.
  • Contribute to the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of the emergency and trauma services department.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate department performance metrics and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead initiatives for staff training, development, and retention.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align department goals with organizational objectives.
  • Manage budgetary and resource allocation for the emergency department.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for nursing professionalism and excellence.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting.
  • Current nursing license and CPR certification required.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee operations in a high-volume Level I trauma center.
  • Experience managing unionized nursing staff is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
