Job Description
Overview
- Provide high-quality, efficient, team-based patient care under supervising physician direction.
- Manage patients in various settings, including office, hospital, and emergency departments.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including suturing, wound care, and injections.
- Develop and implement patient management plans ensuring continuity of care.
- Provide patient education on therapeutic regimens, health maintenance, and emotional well-being.
- Assist in surgeries, perform perioperative procedures, and facilitate patient admissions and discharges.
- Mentor less experienced physician assistants, sharing clinical and operational expertise.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and department members on performance improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and compile patient medical data.
- Administer or order diagnostic tests and interpret results for deviations from normal.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, including immunizations, suturing, and infection management.
- Develop patient management plans and record progress notes.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative education and support to patients and families.
- Assist in surgical procedures and perform perioperative tasks as required.
- Facilitate patient discharge and document summaries in a timely manner.
- Mentor and support less experienced physician assistants in clinical practices.
Job Requirements
- Master of Science (MS) degree from an ARC-PA accredited program.
- Minimum three years of experience as a physician assistant within the last five years.
- California Physician Assistant License and National Certification required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification and National Provider Identifier required.
- Fluoroscopy Permit required for certain specialties within 18 months of hire.
- Competency in performing department-specific tasks as required.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Advanced certification in specialty area preferred.
